Can you English please?

Helping serious English learning unblock their path to fluency

G'day, I'm Dave!

I used to teach philosophy, critical thinking and effective writing at one of Australia's top-ranked universities.

Now I live in the mountains and help people from around the world overcome their learning bottlenecks. I also do a fair bit of skiing too!

Most people who come to me already know plenty of English. They've studied grammar, built their vocabulary and spent years using the language.

But something is getting in the way.

Maybe they can't turn what they understand into fluent speech. Maybe the same mistakes keep coming back. Maybe they struggle to understand fast, natural English. Maybe they simply don't know what to work on next.

My job is to identify those bottlenecks, work out how to overcome them, and help you make consistent progress.

Why me?

My background is in understanding how people learn, think and communicate.

At university, I helped students identify problems in their reasoning, develop better ways of thinking, and communicate complex ideas clearly.

As a ski coach, I helped athletes identify what was holding their performance back, then worked with them to develop strategies to help them succeed.

I bring the same approach to English learning.

I look at what's happening, figure out where you're getting stuck, and help you find a way forward.

How I work

There's no standard programme that everyone follows.

We start with your English, your goals and your problems.

Then we identify the biggest bottlenecks, work on them each week, and adjust as you improve.

That's what my 90-day coaching programme is built around.

If you're frustrated with your English and don't know why you're stuck, let's figure it out.
